Objective: Given a series of resources about the UC Personal Insight Questions, students will collaboratively design an infographic or informational digital flyer for seniors at GVHS that effectively helps seniors understand the UC Personal Insight Questions. 

Rationale:  I was here last April.  It has been a long time.  You need to review the work that you have done before we can take the next steps.  

Resources About the Personal Insight Questions

Tools:  Use Google Drawings to create your infographic or digital flyer.  Feel free to link to elements on your flyer.  

Collaboration Suggestions:

  • Divide up the resources to review within your group.
  • Spend about 5 minutes reviewing your section
  • Come together to quickly share what you reviewed with other. 
  • Start a Google Drawing, share with group, and get to work.  
  • Take the last five minutes to double-check your work. 

Day 2

Opening Activity:  Online Gallery Walk
Look through the examples from your class period.  You have been granted commenting access.  Please leave comments for elements of the digital flyers that you feel like were effective in informing seniors about the personal insight questions.

I will pass out a small piece of paper.  You will need to make appointments with two different students in the class for this lesson.  

The Big Idea
Think about your audience, what they know about you from your application, and what you need them to know about you that ISN'T in your application. 
Quickwrite: 
What questions do you think the admissions officers might have about you after seeing your application?  What do you wish that they could know about you?

Appointment
Go to your BLUE APPOINTMENT and the person who is youngest will share what they wrote.  Elder, your job is to ask questions and provide feedback in the form of your reactions, your thoughts, or your ideas.  Youngster, listen to your elders ideas.

Selection:  
Based on your conversation, select one of the the eight personal insight questions that you think you might want to use.  Remember to select one that allows you to share what you wish they could know about you.

Freewrite
Now what I want you to do is write freely in response to the personal insight question.  This is like quickwriting in that its purpose is to get ideas out there, but it takes much longer.  RESIST THE URGE TO CROSS OUT AND ERASE IDEAS.  Get your thinking down on paper.  We will shape ideas later in response groups.
